New York, NY – Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) held a Facebook Live event featuring IAVA CEO Jeremy Butler and Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

During the event, Jeremy Butler and Dr. Roe highlighted important legislation in Congress, addressed IAVA’s big 6 priorities during COVID-19, support for women veterans, and shared information on resources for veterans under IAVA’s Quick Reaction Force (QRF).

“This pandemic hit the veteran community especially hard,” said Jeremy Butler, CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “Since the beginning, Dr. Roe has helped raise Veterans’ needs to the forefront of the conversation around pandemic relief policies. Legislation such as H.R. 7111, the Veterans Economic Recovery Act and the IMPROVE act are important to this community, and we look forward to continuing our work with Dr. Roe as we focus on other priorities such as the veteran suicide crisis. ”

“IAVA has been laser focused on serving post-9/11 veterans for years and COVID-19 has not lessened that focus one bit,” said Ranking Member Dr. Roe. “It was a pleasure speaking with Jeremy and taking questions from IAVA members across the country today about issues that are important to them – like helping veterans who lost their jobs because of the pandemic and saving veterans from suicide. IAVA’s support has been crucial to putting VA on the better track in the last three years and I look forward to continuing our work together in the difficult months ahead.”
