Read: IAVA Responds to Afghanistan Drawdown

Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan are long used to the media not talking about the wars, those who fight in them or the families impacted. Last week, after President Obama announced the drawdown plan extending the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan through 2017, the media became interested again.

IAVA’s foundation is centered on telling the veteran story; YOUR story. Our mission to connect, unite and empower post-9/11 veterans and their families can only be successful if we continue to tell our story.

IAVA is committed to ensuring veterans and their families have a voice at every possible turn; in the media, in Congress and in communities. When asked to comment about the president’s announcement last week, IAVA instead told stories of sacrifice by post-9/11 veterans and their families and called on America’s leaders to support them.
