Read: IAVA Preparing to Re-engage Congress on Our Top Priorities

This week, the IAVA DC Team returned following our August break. Congress is still out and the city is still a bit on the quiet side, but our team had plenty to do to prepare for IAVA CEO Jeremy Butler’s testimony on Sept. 11 before the House VA Health Subcommittee on some of our policy priorities, including provisions of the Deborah Sampson Act (S. 514) to fill gaps in care for women vets that we have championed since its introduction last Congress. Tune in next Wednesday at 10am to see Jeremy HERE.

We are also preparing for our Sept. 16-18 Storm The Hill, when we will welcome IAVA members from around the country to DC for professional development and Capitol Hill advocacy. Keep track of our Stormers on our social media channels and consider joining us for a future Storm!

Finally, as I write this, I am attending the final day of the 6th annual America’s Warrior Partnership 2019 Warrior Symposium in Atlanta, a crossroads of national and local VSOs, policymakers, and veteran-friendly corporations who want to help vets and share what they’re doing toward that goal across the country. It’s been a great few days seeing old friends and making new ones, and learning about the many great efforts and challenges to be met in the veterans space.
