Read: Daily Defend the GI Bill Update for June 9

On yesterday’s date last year, the Southern Front of the Free Syrian Army captured Brigade 52, a large base which belonged to the Syrian Army.

American troops are still serving in harms way in the Middle East and elsewhere around the world, but Congress seems content to cut the Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits they were promised. Well, not if we have anything to say about it. Some highlights from #DefendTheGIBill yesterday:

Advocacy Team:

  • Met with the offices of Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA-4), Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL-16), Rep. Paul Cook (R-CA-8), and Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA-33).

Member Advocacy:

  • Texas IAVA members met with the office of Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX-3) in Dallas.
  • 3 grassroots IAVA member messages sent out to Capitol Hill offices since Friday.
  • Defend the GI Bill campaign grassroots IAVA member message total stands at 30,737.
