Read: A Challenge to Clinton & Trump: Stand with Vets After Election Day

Tonight, at our Commander-in-Chief Forum, IAVA challenged presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to stand with veterans after Election Day.

IAVA Founder and CEO Paul Rieckhoff delivered the following letter to Secretary Clinton and Mr. Trump

September 7, 2016

On behalf of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and our more than 400,000 members and supporters, thank you for participating in this historical Commander-in-Chief Forum.

IAVA was founded in 2004 to give troops who were risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan the voice they were missing in the public dialogue. They didn’t have anyone fighting for them back here at home. Now, 12 years later, they do.

IAVA proposed the Forum to put veterans and servicemembers at the forefront of the election and ensure our community remains a priority for the next President. Our community’s issues don’t belong to one party or another. Every American has a moral obligation to rally around our veterans and servicemembers, and we hope the Forum will offer a rare moment of unity in this dynamic campaign.

After the election our country will need to unify again. On behalf of IAVA, I invite you to join us IAVA members, supporters, and staff in making that happen at the New York City Veterans Day parade on November 11, 2016 and stand by our nation’s heroes, win or lose.

For over a decade and through multiple elections, IAVA has advocated for our community in every possible way and on both sides of the aisle to ensure our voices are heard. Regardless of what happens November 8th, can we count on you to have our back?

Respectfully,
