IAVA, Miller Descend on Nationals Park
August 23 2010

As part of IAVA’s ongoing partnership with Miller High Life this summer, 750 IAVA members and their guests attended the Florida Marlins at the Washington Nationals game on August 11th. With a special appearance by Miller High Life deliveryman Windell Middlebrooks, a private pre-game party with an appearance from Nationals pitcher Craig Stammen, and a special military recognition, even though the Nationals lost the game, the night was a big win for IAVA members and their guests.

To kick off the evening, IAVA Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Following the delivery of the line-up card by Marvin Rydberg and the official game ball by MAJ Marci Hodge, both IAVA members, IAVA Deputy Executive Director Todd Bowers got the game started with a memorable “Play Ball!” Additionally, during the bottom of the third inning the Nationals lead a military recognition and welcome of 15 IAVA member veterans sitting on the Presidential Platform, rousing the crowd to acknowledge and celebrate all of the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in attendance.
Working with IAVA, Miller High life will donate up to $1 million in cash and experiences, such as baseball and football games, concerts and outdoor adventures to OIF and OEF veterans through IAVA's Rucksack. For every Miller High Life and Miller High Life Light bottle cap returned to stores, Miller High Life will donate 10 cents to help “Give a Veteran a Piece of the High Life.” Through this program, IAVA hopes to provide our membership with an opportunity to experience premium events while connecting with other veterans in their communities.
MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
IAVA Member Veterans were interviewed about the experience by the local FOX affiliate.
