Lady Luck Smiles on Vegas Veterans
March 26 2012

With veteran unemployment in Nevada at 18.9%, more than 50% higher than the national average, IAVA Member Veterans in the Las Vegas-area took advantage to learn about one of the state’s most lucrative and in-demand industries: hotels and tourism.

Hosted at one of Sin City’s hottest hotels, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, IAVA members were treated to an exclusive breakfast buffet from the hotel’s popular restaurant the Wicked Spoon. Vets learned about the hotel’s culture and the hotel and tourism industry and were also given an exclusive tour of the hotel’s properties -- including hotel rooms and the restaurants, some of Las Vegas’s choicest dining options.

Finally, vets had the opportunity to connect and network with the hotel’s staff and get insider perspectives on working not only for The Cosmopolitan but for the larger dynamic and exciting industry.

Get Involved

In just the last year, IAVA has connected hundreds of veterans with employers through innovative career fairs, helped over 10,000 veterans go to college on the New GI Bill, and provided mental health support to over 50,000 veterans—all at no cost to Member Veterans. Programs like these are only made possible through your generous support. Fight for those who fought for us and help us keep these resources and benefits completely free for new veterans and their families. DONATE >>

Not an IAVA member yet? IAVA Member Veterans get access to exclusive career fairs, events and tickets. Join up today--membership is free and all you have to do is submit proof of OIF/OND/OEF status.
