IAVA Helps Carry the Load
May 2 2012
On Wednesday, May 2nd, dozens of IAVA members and supporters united to march with Carry the Load and highlight the true meaning of Memorial Day. Carry the Load's route will travel 1,700 miles from West Point, NY to Dallas, TX in 27 days - allowing thousands of Americans to participate and remind the country what the national holiday is all about.
The dedicated IAVA contingent gathered in the early morning - in a rainy Central Park - to embark on a five-mile march which ended at IAVA HQ in midtown Manhattan.
Feeling inspired, several members of IAVA's group joined 9/11 families for the next five-mile segment as they marched towards the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
IAVA was honored to join Carry the Load in this historic and critical mission. Donate to Carry the Load here.
About Carry the Load
Carry the Load is a nonprofit organization dedicated to returning the focus of Memorial Day to the sacrifice of America's service members. In just the last year, IAVA has connected hundreds of veterans with employers through innovative career fairs, helped over 10,000 veterans go to college on the New GI Bill, and provided mental health support to over 50,000 veterans—all at no cost to Member Veterans. Programs like these are only made possible through your generous support. Fight for those who fought for us and help us keep these resources and benefits completely free for new veterans and their families. DONATE >>
