IAVA Takes the Field at Camden Yards
August 9 2010

On August 9th, IAVA brought 1000 veterans and their families to watch the Baltimore Orioles take on the Chicago White Sox at historic Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. With Miller High Life deliveryman Windell Middlebrooks entertaining the crowd and a strike-worthy pitch from IAVA Deputy Executive Director Todd Bowers, fans were geared up for an intense and exciting game. After being closely tied throughout game at 2-2, the Orioles went on to win the game with a single homerun in the 10th inning.

As one member veteran commented: “It was the first time that any of us had ever been to a Major League Baseball game. The ‘Bullpen’ that was set up for us was much nicer than I had expected, and I did see other members of the Maryland National Guard that I served in Iraq with, that I had not seen since the Deployment. … Miller High Life should be commended for their support to the Organization, they have really stepped up and shown that they support the Veterans. Thanks again for the opportunity!”

Working with IAVA, Miller High Life will donate up to $1 million in cash and experiences, such as baseball and football games, concerts and outdoor adventures to OIF and OEF veterans through IAVA's Rucksack. For every Miller High Life and Miller High Life Light bottle cap returned to stores, Miller High Life will donate 10 cents to help “Give a Veteran a Piece of the High Life.” Through this program, IAVA hopes to provide our membership with an opportunity to experience premium events while connecting with other veterans in their communities.
