On August 5th, IAVA's Chief Legislative Counsel Patrick Campbell sat down with MSNBC Live to discuss the recent Marine Corps ban on social media websites, including Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter, among others. According to a Marine Corps order posted Monday, the ban was enacted in response to security concerns. These internet sites in general are a proven haven for malicious actors and content and are particularly high risk due to information exposure, user generated content and targeting by adversaries, the order said. Critics question how this will affected deployed Marines, and how it will ultimately be enforced.
