Fox 5 DC: IAVA members honored at Washington Nationals game

August 12

Nearly 1000 IAVA member veterans and their families came together in Washington, DC to see the Washington Nationals play the Florida Marlins. They were treated to a free pre-game party with food, entertainment, appearances by Nats players, and even facepainters for the kids. A few local veterans were interviewed about the experience by the local FOX affiliate.

 


NBC 12 AZ: IAVA at the Arizona Diamondbacks Game

Arizona IAVA members and their families came out to enjoy the Diamondbacks game on August 2nd. The tickets were donated through IAVA's innovative partnership with Miller High Life and allowed for the vets to enjoy the game for free. For more information check out www.TheRucksack.org.

 


San Diego 6 News: Coverage of IAVA and Miller High Life's New Campaign

IAVA Founder and Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff spoke with San Diego 6 News about the new campaign we have launched with Miller High Life, which will give veterans once in a lifetime experiences and thank them for their service. Nearly 1000 veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan came out to PETCO Park to celebrate the Fourth of July and commemorate the launch of the groundbreaking new campaign.

 


YES Network: Behind the Scenes of the Miller High Life Commercial Shoot

During a recent New York Yankees game, the YES Network highlighted the partnership between IAVA and Miller High Life and showed behind the scenes footage of the first commercial of the campaign, starring IAVA staff members Adam Bryant, Cara Hammer, and Miller High Life Spokesperson Windell Middlebrooks. The campaign launched on the Fourth of July at the San Diego Padres game where nearly 1000 veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their families came out to celebrate the holiday and commemorate the historic launch.

 


KCAL 9: Veterans Honored at Dodgers Stadium

Nearly 500 veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan came together at Dodgers Stadium to commemorate the launch of IAVA's groundbreaking new campaign with Miller High Life. Vets were honored on the field during the national anthem and IAVA Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff threw out the first pitch.

Mashable: 5 Tips for Creating Non-Profit Online Communities

Leading social media blog Mashable, highlighted IAVA in a piece on non-profits using a variety of social tools to foster community. IAVA was featured for it’s pioneering use of a white label community to create a private social space exclusively for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

The Philadelphia Inquirer recently profiled IAVA Member Veterans Bryan Adams and Marie Exley about their experiences transitioning home from Iraq and how IAVA's CommunityofVeterans.org, the first exclusive social network for OIF/OEF veterans, helped them find critical resources about VA health care, claims benefits and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.  Click here to read the article.
