IAVA Joins American Corporate Partners to Launch Women’s Veteran Mentoring

Leading post-9/11 vets leverage innovative resources to support mentoring program

WASHINGTON (March 21, 2016) – Today at the Pentagon, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) joined American Corporate Partners (ACP) to announce the launch of ACP’s Women’s Veteran Mentoring Program. ACP will offer personalized, one-on-one yearlong mentorships from top businesswomen for transitioning post-9/11 women veterans nationwide. IAVA will leverage its signature resources, the Rapid Response Referral Program (RRRP), VetTogethers and myIAVA to connect veterans with ACP’s Women’s Veteran Mentoring Program.

“Today represents more than a decade of work by veteran service organizations and our partners to shift the thinking around women veterans,” said Allison Jaslow, Iraq veteran and IAVA’s Director of Political and Intergovernmental Affairs. “Twenty percent of IAVA members and 35 percent of IAVA’s leaders are women. Women are the fastest growing segment of the veteran population and empowerment programs like this one from ACP are critical to ensure veterans succeed as they transition into the private sector. We are proud to take leadership with ACP by investing in our women warriors as never before.”

Veterans will be mentored by private sector leaders on topics ranging from building civilian-friendly résumés and networking, to leadership skills and work-life balance. ACP’s Women’s Veteran Mentoring Program directly supports IAVA’s policy priority to fully recognize and improve services for women veterans, and overall mission to connect, unite and empower post-9/11 veterans and their families.
