Samantha Heffner, Esq

Samantha Heffner spent over six years as a structured finance attorney in Manhattan at Dewey Ballantine LLP and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. While in private practice, she performed pro bono projects for the New York City Bar’s Veterans Assistance Project and conducted a fellowship with the nonprofit Lawyers Alliance for New York. In 2011, Sam left private practice to join the New York office of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) to pursue her goal of assisting the next greatest generation of veterans. During her seven years at IAVA, Sam assisted the Development team, launched a major gifts campaign, led hiring efforts for the HR team and eventually became the Chief Talent Officer. Since her transition to the IAVA Advisory Board, Sam has been mentoring staff members, developing IAVA’s in-house training curriculum and assisting the Director of HR with ongoing strategic and regulatory advice. Samantha attended The Spence School in Manhattan, received a B.A. from Yale University, a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in the State of New York. She lives in Manhattan with her husband, son and daughter.
