Naveed (Fairfax, VA) is a U.S. Army veteran from Springfield, Va., who served as a public affairs specialist from 2006 to 2010, including a 12 month tour in Iraq. After finishing his active duty time, he returned home to Virginia. Naveed was selected for Storm the Hill in 2012 and went on to complete a legislative and advocacy internship in IAVA’s D.C. office. Since then, Naveed is very active in the military veterans community. He’s Chairman of the Veterans Caucus for the Virginia Young Democrats, Chairman of the Communications Committee of the Fairfax NAACP, and Vice President of the NOVA Democrats. In 2017, Naveed was appointed by Gov. Terry McAuliffe to serve on the Board of the Virginia War Memorial to help oversee a $25 million expansion of the memorial to include Virginia’s Post 9/11 Veterans. As an IAVA Leadership Fellow, Naveed frequently hosts VetTogethers in the Philadelphia and D.C. area. When not volunteering, Naveed works as a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty in McLean, Va., and spends time with his wife, Ashley, and their three kids.
