First Annual Fleet Week Smart Job Fair

Veterans will attend free of charge and have access to career coaches, resume workshops, interview training and will receive a $200 certificate for business attire. Veterans will also be entered for a chance to win 2 roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines. Employers will learn ways they can help bridge the military-civilian divide in the workplace.

TIME magazine recently called this group of veterans “The New Greatest Generation.” The piece highlighted the tremendous potential of this generation of veteran leaders; it also underscored the huge challenges our community faces, including a 9.8 percent unemployment rate, an unacceptably high number.

To directly combat veteran unemployment in the Bay Area, IAVA is partnering with the US Chamber of Commerce to host a Smart Job Fair during San Francisco's 2011 Fleet Week.

All employers through their sponsorship have shown their commitment to hire new veterans. These employers all have open positions and are looking to hire immediately.

At least 200 vetted, confirmed and prepared OIF/OEF veterans will be participating in this event, making it the first of its kind.
