IAVA Spearheads Passage of Advanced Funding for VA Healthcare
October 22
On October 22nd, IAVA joined lawmakers and the nation's leading Veteran Service Organizations at the White House as President Obama signed IAVA's #1 legislative priority Advanced Appropriations for veterans healthcare into law. Learn more about this legislative victory below.
Advanced Appropriations was IAVA’s top legislative priority and the focus of our 2009 Storm the Hill campaign, which brings Iraq and Afghanistan veterans to Capitol Hill annually to raise awareness about the key challenges facing our nation's veterans. Signed into law after months of pressure by IAVA and the nation's leading VSOs, the legislation requires Congress to pass the VA’s budget at least one year in advance, ensuring timely and predictable funding for VA hospitals and clinics which service 6 million veterans nationwide.
On October 22nd, President Obama signed IAVA's number one legislative priority for the year into law - advance funding for VA healthcare. |
