Read: IAVA Gets Down and Dirty with the Brooklyn Kings

Rugby. It’s the grandfather of American football, but here in NYC, it’s attracting a younger audience.  IAVA member veterans met up on Sunday, July 10th to watch the Brooklyn Kings take on the Boston 13s in an intense matchup at Bushwick Inlet Park in Brooklyn.  While the Boston 13s walked away with a 50-18 victory, both teams joined IAVA at Kent Street Ale House after the game, in the true spirit of camaraderie.

IAVA Leadership Council Member Bill Tovell hosted the outing and IAVA members had a chance to meet and mingle with the players. IAVA member leader John Veon was able to share with the teams and attendees about IAVA programs and advocacy, and even awarded an IAVA t-shirt to the coach of the Brooklyn Kings and coined the game MVP!

If you missed this outing, don’t fret; we’re already planning our next event to watch the Brooklyn Kings take on the New York Knights on July 30th. Stay tuned and check our VetTogether page for more details!
