Storm the Hill 2012: Our biggest week yet
Posted by Megan Hemler on April 3 2012

From March 26 through March 29, IAVA stormed Capitol Hill with 26 of our Member Veterans. We met with lawmakers, told our stories and urged them to pass targeted legislation. IAVA called on Congress to join us in the fight against veteran unemployment by protecting the education benefits that make college and vocational training possible, and by enhancing training for veteran entrepreneurs.

We met with over 140 Congressional offices, senior White House officials, and gathered nearly 60 pledges of co-sponsorship for IAVA's top legislative priorities - including protecting the New GI Bill. We got two bills introduced: the New GI Bill Consumer Awareness Act (S. 2241) that will equip veterans with better information to choose the education program that meets their needs and the TAP Modernization Act (S.2246) that would allow veterans to re-take TAP and access additional training like the entrepreneurship boot camp after they have left the service. With this momentum, Storm the Hill primed IAVA for another successful year on the Hill.

Get Involved

In just the last year, IAVA has connected hundreds of veterans with employers through innovative career fairs, helped over 10,000 veterans go to college on the New GI Bill, and provided mental health support to over 50,000 veterans—all at no cost to Member Veterans. Programs like these are only made possible through your generous support. Fight for those who fought for us and help us keep these resources and benefits completely free for new veterans and their families. DONATE >>

Not an IAVA member yet? IAVA Member Veterans get access to exclusive career fairs, events and tickets. Join up today--membership is free and all you have to do is submit proof of OIF/OND/OEF status.
