IAVA's announces new online “Career Pathfinder”
Posted by Zack Baddorf on February 28

Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America proudly unveiled “Career Pathfinder”, an innovative online employment tool for returning veterans. Funded by Cisco and powered by Futures Inc., this innovative tool was revealed during the 2013 TED Conference and will help the 2.5 million veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan transition from combat to career using technology.

“The Career Pathfinder is what Steve Jobs might have called a disruptor. With the unacceptably high veteran unemployment rate, the Pathfinder proves that technology can be the fuel injection that gets us to deeper impacts and greater scale,” said IAVA Founder and CEO Paul Rieckhoff. “Career Pathfinder represents the evolution of the job fair. IAVA knows that transitioning from combat to career can be tough. Every day, we hear from our members that they need help translating their military skills, finding employers who value their background and deciphering out what education they need to be successful – enter Career Pathfinder to turn those failures into successes.”

“We are proud to unveil this new product during TED, where we can highlight the tech-centric approach that IAVA uses to deliver service and support from coast to coast,” Rieckhoff continued. “Cisco has been dedicated and visionary in their support of IAVA and the new veterans community. The Pathfinder is just one example of how both Cisco and Futures are championing the New Greatest Generation. They have our backs, and we hope more corporations will follow their lead.”

“Veterans’ experience and skills don’t always easily map to civilian job descriptions yet they are invaluable in today’s workforce,” said Cisco Director of Corporate Affairs Michael Veysey. “Technology can help bridge this gap and, in addition to our own hiring efforts, Cisco is proud to provide the networking platform to connect veterans with meaningful employment opportunities.”

“Whether someone is looking for a job or seeking the best talent to fill a position, Career Pathfinder offers a powerful array of award-winning career support and job connection resources,” said Futures Inc. CEO Geoff Cramer. “Whether you are an employer or a potential employee, our platform is remarkably effective at putting the right person in the right place at the right time.”

Leveraging Futures’ cloud-based talent exchange platform and its “best in class” skills matching technology, the Career Pathfinder delivers career support, talent-matching and job connection resources designed to help veterans find fulfilling civilian careers.  Some of its features include:

•    Thousands of job listings from employers looking to hire veterans
•    A cutting-edge resume builder
•    An innovative career mapping tool
•    A one-of-a-kind military-to-civilian skills translator
•    Access to IAVA’s best-in-class education and employment programs

This new resource is available only to confirmed members of IAVA. Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts can sign up for their free IAVA membership at IAVA.org.

The Career Pathfinder logo was designed pro bono by Landor Associates, who were also the creative force behind IAVA’s 2011 rebranding.
