Today, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the nation's first and largest nonpartisan organization for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, issued the following statement in response to President Obama's nomination of W. Scott Gould to serve as the next Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs:
“IAVA congratulates Scott Gould on his nomination as Deputy Secretary of the VA, and applauds President Obama for his forward-looking selection. As a former naval intelligence officer and veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, Mr. Gould knows first-hand the challenges that new veterans are facing. Mr. Gould also brings with him a distinguished career in the public and private sector, and we hope that his experience in high-tech industry will help him lead the VA in modernizing their business practices.
IAVA looks forward to working with Mr. Gould and Secretary Shinseki to transform the Department of Veterans Affairs into an innovative organization that will continue to serve the needs of the newest generations of veterans.”
