Legislative Dispatch: NDAA Day 1
Posted by Tom Tarantino on November 28
Today the Senate is beginning work on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and IAVA is on the ground in DC fighting to protect employment, education and mental health care.
All year, our DC team has been working with our partners in the veterans community and legislators on both sides of the aisle to ensure that your interests are protected.
With the legislation working its way through debate on the Senate floor, we are fighting for amendments that will:
1) Defend the GI Bill by improving consumer education and protections for student veterans
2) Improves mental health care in the military and VA that will help prevent suicide
3) Helps veterans get jobs by translating their military training into their civilian counterparts
The Senate will be sorting out their version of the NDAA over the next 3 days. As the process moves forward, we will continue to update you on the critical issues that affect the lives of veterans and their families.
