IAVA has a super-sized Super Bowl week in NOLA
Posted by Anthony Pike on January 30

IAVA had a jam-packed week in the Big Easy in the lead up to the Super Bowl. From rebuilding a Katrina-survivor's (and Army vet's) home with the St. Bernard Project to having exclusive access at ESPN's SportsNation to hosting a fundraising breakfast with Coach Bill Cowher to having a segment on CBS' pre-game coverage - IAVA was busy.

On Wednesday, IAVA members from the New Orleans area joined together with the St. Bernard Project to help rebuild the home of a Hurricane Katrina victim. Even after eight years, these recovery projects are still happening - and the St. Bernard Project is leading the charge, having rebuilt close to 500 homes to date. There was also a segment on the CBS pre-game show about the partnership - so the whole country got to see what our community is doing to give back.

We also got exclusive, behind-the-scenes, VIP access at the tapings of SportsNation from Wednesday through Friday. Our members were front and center - and the whole ESPN crew made us feel at home.

On Friday, we also had an intimate breakfast with Super Bowl-winning coach and CBS analyst Coach Bill Cowher (which was sponsored by NBA All Star Chris Paul's CP3 Foundation). IAVA members and supporters came out in full force and were treated to an amazing meal from Gulf War vet Chef John Besh. Check out pictures of the week below!

In just the last year, IAVA has connected hundreds of veterans with employers through innovative career fairs, helped over 10,000 veterans go to college on the New GI Bill, and provided mental health support to over 50,000 veterans—all at no cost to Member Veterans. Programs like these are only made possible through your generous support. Fight for those who fought for us and help us keep these resources and benefits completely free for new veterans and their families. DONATE >>
