This summer -- it’s all about giving veterans a piece of the high life! This past week, IAVA and Miller High Life continued our summer celebrations with events for new veterans from coast to coast. Check out where we were, what we did and how you can sign up to get access to these rewards and much more!
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals
On Wednesday, August 1st, over 600 IAVA Member Veterans and their friends and families united in our nation’s capitol to watch the Washington Nationals take on the Philadelphia Phillies.
Before the game, Nationals players joined IAVA members and their guests for a pre-game cookout, hosted by Miller High Life. Despite the cloudy weather, the festivities were in full swing, and several member veterans were able to participate in a once in a lifetime experience by being recognized on the field before the start of the game. IAVA Member Veteran Adam Clampitt even got to throw out the first pitch!
Even though the Nationals ultimately lost to the Phillies in a close 3-2 game, IAVA members walked away with an experience of a lifetime as they were recognized for their service and treated to a fun and relaxing summer evening!
Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
On the west coast, more than 400 IAVA Member Veterans and their guests came together on Saturday, August 4th, to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers defend their home turf against the Chicago Cubs.
As part of their game day experience, IAVA members were invited to go down on the field before the start of the game to be thanked for their service by the Dodgers and the crowd. Following their recognition, IAVA Member Veteran and former intern Laura Araujo threw the first pitch -- strike!
Veterans and their guests were also treated to free Dodger dogs and beverages to round out their experience. And what a game it was! Proving that they’re a force to be reckoned with, the Dodgers defeated the Cubs in 3-1 game while IAVA members and their families watched on from their seats.
Get Involved
In just the last year, IAVA has connected hundreds of veterans with employers through innovative career fairs, helped over 10,000 veterans go to college on the New GI Bill, and provided mental health support to over 50,000 veterans—all at no cost to Member Veterans. Programs like these are only made possible through your generous support.
