In Advance of Tonight's Presidential Address, IAVA Launches New Housing and Unemployment Reports

Today, in advance of President Obama's first address before Congress on the state of the nation, IAVA launched two new reports illustrating the immense challenges Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are facing in the current economic environment.

Careers After Combat: Employment and Education Challenges for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans outlines the alarmingly high rates of unemployment among new veterans and the struggles of National Guardsmen and Reservists to keep their businesses afloat.  Coming Home: The Housing Crisis and Homelessness Threaten New Veterans describes in detail how the mortgage and foreclosure crisis is affecting Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, and provides suggestions for stemming the flood of new veterans who are showing up in our nation’s homeless shelters.
