IAVA presents ‘High Life Highlights’ – a collection of good news and success stories of the past two weeks from MHL and IAVA Member Veterans.
Americans from all across the nation have shown their support for America’s newest generation of veterans and IAVA by collecting their can tabs and mailing them in to Give a Veteran a Piece of the High Life!
Civilian supporters and veterans have mailed in photos of can tabs and bottle caps of Miller High Life in their ongoing support for the program.
Dan & Corinne Smedley of Russville, KY, wrote in to thank IAVA for what they do, and for supporting their son, currently deployed in support of OEF as an Airman in Manas, Kyrgyzstan. According to them, “Our family and friends have helped raise more than $2,000 to help our troops get a piece of the High Life!” Their dedication to give IAVA vets a piece of the High Life can’t be overstated!
Cincinnati Reds vs. Baltimore Orioles
This week’s ‘Miller High Life High Light’ showcase belongs to SFC Daniel Stewart, a 12-year veteran of the US Army.
Daniel, his son Joshua, 8, and daughter Johanna, 10, took to Camden Yards to watch the Cincinnati Reds take on the on their hometown favorites, the Baltimore Orioles.
Between nearly 8 years of Active Duty service and then continuing on in the National Guard with three deployments to Iraq, face time with his children has been really important.
According to Daniel, “We had a great time! My children had the time of their life! The other IAVA members were great too … and being together and sharing experiences made the evening all that much more enjoyable!”
There is no shortage of experiences coming up for vets in The Rucksack. This weekend, we’ll be sending a lucky crew of IAVA members and their guests to watch one of NASCAR’s hottest races, the Brickyard 400! IAVA members will get to ride in the trucks during the introductory pre-race lap and watch the race from the best spot in the track – the Miller Lite Party Deck! Check out the shirts and the passes that IAVA members will be sporting at the event!
From the start of the upcoming NFL pre-season, to deep-sea fishing, to summer-time rodeo events and NASCAR races, IAVA and Miller High Life are connecting veterans to unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. But this partnership is also about connecting veterans to each other and to critical resources as they transition out of the military and into civilian life.
UPCOMING RUCKSACK EVENTS

This summer, IAVA and Miller High Life have teamed up to provide $1 million in cash and experiences for unique and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for IAVA member veterans and their friends and families. These experiences include tickets to MLB games, NASCAR races, and more VIP experiences and are distributed through The Rucksack. For every Miller High Life and Miller High Life Light bottle cap returned to stores, Miller High Life will donate 10 cents to help “Give a Veteran a Piece of the High Life.” Through this program, IAVA hopes to provide our membership with an opportunity to experience premium events while connecting with other veterans in their communities.
