IAVA Applauds Senate for Passing VOW to Hire Heroes Act

Today, IAVA issued the following statement applauding the Senate for passing the Vow to Hire Heroes Act (95-0):
“The day before Veterans Day (11/11/11), the Senate has finally delivered for new veterans. By passing the VOW to Hire Heroes Act unanimously, they are sending vets a clear message: we’ve got your back. This legislation contains critical provisions that IAVA has been calling for since we launched our Combat to Career program at Storm the Hill 2011 – and it will get vets jobs. And it couldn’t have come at a better time as new veteran unemployment just increased for the second straight month,” said IAVA Founder and Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff. “We call on House Leadership to pass this bill as soon as they are back in session next week so that the President can sign it into law immediately. We applaud the Senate for working past the partisan bickering that has paralyzed Congress for the last two years. They’ve recognized that the greatest investment they could make is supporting the New Greatest Generation.”
