Two Days And Counting...
Posted by Todd Bowers on February 4 2010

If we fought for our country overseas, should we have to continue fighting when we come home?

I just got back from my fourth deployment with the Marine Corps since September 11th, 2001. Time after time, I've heard horror stories from fellow veterans trying to cut through the red tape of the VA's disability claims process, and waiting for months, even years, just to find out what benefits they're eligible for.

That has to change. And that's why IAVA is making disability claims reform our number one legislative priority for 2010.

In just a few days, we're bringing two dozen Iraq and Afghanistan veterans to Capitol Hill for our annual Storm the Hill trip, so that Congress can hear directly from veterans.

Can you contribute a few dollars to ensure those veterans have the supplies they need?  Click here to make a donation at our new online headquarters for Storm the Hill 2010.

Today, we're also releasing our 2010 Legislative Agenda, which highlights the biggest issues facing veterans, and offers concrete recommendations for what Congress can do to address them. And we're releasing our newest Issue Report, Red Tape: Veterans Fight New Battles for Care and Benefits, which addresses disability reform head-on. These two documents will be the backbone of all our efforts in Washington during Storm the Hill and throughout the year.

So please help IAVA bring our important message directly to lawmakers on Capitol Hill by contributing what you can.

There are big and exciting things in store next week, and we'll be keeping you updated every step of the way.

Thank you for standing with us.
