Alert: Congress introduces Stolen Valor Act 2.0

On Tuesday, Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) and Congressman Joe Heck (NV-3) introduced legislation -- the Stolen Valor Act of 2011 -- that would punish those who lie about receiving the Medal of Honor and other military honors. Mr. Brown and Mr. Heck are pushing for the bill after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the original version of the Stolen Valor Act of 2005 in late June.


Making Progress on Translating Military Skills

Late Monday, Congress passed the Veterans Skills to Jobs Act -- a key bill that IAVA backed to combat new veteran unemployment-- which will allow the federal government to help more veterans translate military certifications into civilian jobs. The bill now heads to the President's desk, where he is expected to sign it in to law.
