IAVA began its week at California State University - Northridge participating in their first annual Veterans Resource Fair. Dozens of IAVA members were on hand to learn about the benefits offered and to learn more about the amazing work IAVA is doing in Southern California. IAVA’s Chief of Staff, Derek Bennett, was also on hand to give the keynote address in front of all the veterans in attendance, highlighting the important work of IAVA.
On Saturday, April 21, more than 150 IAVA members joined together in honor of the legacy and sacrifice of Pat Tillman by running in Pat’s Run and Pat’s Run Shadow Runs around the country. From The Presidio in San Francisco to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ to the USS Intrepid in New York, IAVA members and supporters ran, walked and remembered Pat’s life.
On Wednesday, May 2nd, dozens of IAVA members and supporters united to march with Carry the Load and highlight the true meaning of Memorial Day. Carry the Load's route will travel 1,700 miles from West Point, NY to Dallas, TX in 27 days - allowing thousands of Americans to participate and remind the country what the national holiday is all about.
On Tuesday, May 1st, Hollywood turned out in Los Angeles to support real-life heroes: the 2.4 million Americans who have carried our country through the past decade of war in Iraq and Afghanistan.Fourth Annual Heroes Celebration

Last week, IAVA stormed Capitol Hill with 26 of our Member Veterans. We met with lawmakers, told our stories and urged them to pass targeted legislation. IAVA called on Congress to join us in the fight against veteran unemployment by protecting the education benefits that make college and vocational training possible, and by enhancing training for veteran entrepreneurs.

On Saturday, March 17, 2012, over two dozen veterans gathered with family, friends and IAVA staff to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in New York City.
